Fresh Sprouted Feed Designed to Replace Sheep Concentrates

Processed sheep concentrates add real cost during lactation, late pregnancy and lamb finishing, and prices can move quickly.

Green2Gro offers a contracted feed service that replaces these concentrates with fresh, enzyme-rich wet sprouted fodder produced daily on your farm in climate-controlled multi-tier aeroponic CEA Chambers. The complete system is fully funded by Centrafin over 72 months, so there is no capital expenditure required.

What It Costs, Per Day

Two comparisons, two starting points. The first table below compares Green2Gro against typical standard (conventional processed) concentrate. The second compares against certified organic concentrate, which costs significantly more per kilogram. Use whichever matches what you feed today — the numbers are not meant to be read against each other.

Estimate Your Savings

Enter what you currently spend on concentrate, and see what the published ranges above imply for your farm.

Based on the published feed-cost saving range for this species (above). Excludes additional savings from eliminating transport (typically R800–R1,200 per ton) and the performance gains many farmers report. This is an estimate, not a formal quote — request a proposal for exact numbers.

On the numbers above: these are pure feed-cost comparisons only. At the low end of some ranges, before transport is added, the difference can be small — even slightly negative — so Green2Gro is not always the cheapest kilogram-for-kilogram. Total cost of ownership tells the fuller story: transport savings (typically R800 to R1,200 per ton) and the condition, health and productivity gains many farmers report from fresh, enzyme-rich sprouts consistently swing the balance in Green2Gro's favour. Green2Gro does not claim 1 kg of wet sprouts equals 1 kg of dry concentrate — the daily volumes above are calculated to deliver equivalent or better usable protein and energy than the concentrate they replace.

Nutritional support: Green2Gro sprouted fodder is highly nutritious and enzyme-rich. However, free-choice mineral and phosphate licks are still generally recommended to ensure optimal mineral balance, fertility and performance, especially for high-producing animals.

Important: if you are working toward organic or regenerative certification, please check that any mineral or phosphate licks you use are approved for your specific certification scheme, as some conventional products contain ingredients that are not permitted.

Fibre and introduction: as ruminants, sheep still require effective fibre. High-quality sprouts usually allow a reduction in lower-quality roughage volumes, not a full replacement of roughage. Introduce any new feed gradually over 4 to 5 weeks to protect rumen health.
